Service Description

The Innovative Community Participation program is designed to empower NDIS participants by helping them develop the skills needed for active community involvement. Employing a collaborative approach, the program features skilled community engagement practitioners who work closely with participants to enhance their employment prospects and community interaction. These practitioners utilize a capacity-building strategy, collaborating with participants within their local environments to facilitate a smooth transition from formal support services to employment and informal community assistance.

Community engagement practitioners prioritize personal growth, well-being, and resilience to foster meaningful connections. Each service is customized to align with the unique goals and needs of participants, ensuring they derive maximum benefit from the program. Participants can look forward to support in various areas, including:

  • Building capacity to seek assistance within the community without relying on formal support.
  • Preparing for and accessing employment and training opportunities.
  • Navigating programs and systems to effectively pursue their employment pathways and engage in community life.
  • Enhancing self-worth, confidence, independence, and understanding of their disability.
  • Developing adaptive social skills, including awareness of social expectations and norms.
  • Improving self-regulation and emotional awareness.
  • Identifying passions, skills, and personal interests, and connecting these to potential job pathways.
  • Fostering self-care and self-awareness.
